To strengthen how it stewards its data resources, and to make data available for qualified researchers, the ACGME has established a formal process for evaluating requests to use ACGME data for research purposes. The new process provides a consistent, criteria-based approach for reviewing requests and applies to all researchers seeking access to ACGME data for scientific study.
Research requests will be evaluated using defined criteria which consider scientific merit, alignment with the ACGME's mission, data stewardship responsibilities, privacy considerations, and organizational capacity. Requests may be approved, denied, or returned for revision following review by the ACGME Data Request Committee.
The ACGME collects and maintains data that support accreditation, educational improvement, physician workforce insights, and research in graduate medical education. Researchers are encouraged to explore publicly available reports, dashboards, and other resources available through ACGME Cloud before submitting a request for additional data.
