Overview
The navigation menu can now be customized to better fit the way you work. Two new controls allow you to adjust the menu's width and choose whether it stays open while you navigate through the application.
These preferences help you maximize screen space or keep navigation readily available, depending on your workflow.
Finding the Best View for Your Workspace
Because the navigation menu overlays page content and some areas of the application are not fully responsive, we've introduced the Menu Width and Pin features to give you greater control over your workspace.
If you prefer to minimize how much the menu overlaps page content, you can:
- Use the One-Column menu to reduce the menu's width.
- Pin or unpin the menu based on your navigation preferences.
- Adjust your browser's zoom level to find the viewing experience that works best for your screen size and resolution.
Every user's monitor size, screen resolution, and browser zoom settings are different, so you may find that a lower zoom level provides the best balance between the navigation menu and page content.
Tip: Try adjusting your browser's zoom level to 75%, 80%, or 90% to determine which setting provides the best viewing experience for your display.
Adjust the Menu Width
The Column Width icon allows you to change the menu between a two-column and one-column layout. The icon will change based and will display the opposite setting based on your current view/selection.
Two-Column Menu (Default)
The two-column layout provides additional space for menu content, making it easier to browse available applications and navigation options.
Choose this layout if you:
- Prefer seeing more information at once
- Frequently browse through menu options
- Want labels and content displayed with more space
One-Column Menu
Selecting the Column Width icon changes the menu to a more compact, one-column layout.
Choose this layout if you:
- Want more room for the page you're working on
- Prefer a narrower navigation menu
- Are working on a smaller display or split-screen
To change the menu width:
- Open the navigation menu.
- Select the Column Width icon.
- The menu immediately switches between the one-column and two-column layouts.
- Select the icon again at any time to switch back.
Tip: You can change the menu width whenever you need. No page refresh is required.
Pin the Menu Open
By default, the navigation menu automatically closes after you select a menu option, allowing more room for the page content.
The Pin icon lets you keep the menu open as you work.
When the menu is pinned:
- The navigation menu remains visible on the left side of the screen.
- The menu stays open as you move between pages.
- You can quickly navigate without reopening the menu each time.
To pin the menu:
- Open the navigation menu.
- Select the Pin icon.
- The menu remains visible while you navigate throughout the application.
- Select the Pin icon again to unpin the menu and return to the default behavior.
Using Both Features Together
The Pin and Column Width features work together.
You can pin the menu open in either:
- Two-column mode for maximum visibility, or
- One-column mode for a compact menu that remains available while preserving more workspace.
This allows you to personalize the navigation experience based on your screen size and the way you prefer to work.
Saving Your Preferences
Your menu preferences, including the selected menu width and whether the menu is pinned, are saved in your browser using cookies. This allows the browser to remember your preferred navigation settings each time you return.
If you clear your browser's cookies, use a different browser, or use a different device, your saved preferences will be reset. You will simply need to select your preferred menu width and pin setting again.
Note: These preferences are stored on your current browser and device. They do not automatically sync across different browsers or devices.
