Explore Public Data: A New Data Resource Book Gateway
Explore Public Data contains the most recent data on ACGME-accredited Sponsoring Institutions and programs, as well as on resident, fellow, and faculty physicians in ACGME-accredited graduate medical education (GME) programs, displayed in various customizable dashboards. These dashboards reflect what is published in the static, annual Data Resource Book, and provide a concise reference for identifying and clarifying data related to the accreditation of GME programs and the institutions that sponsor them.
Academic Year Reporting
To create a comprehensive report on GME for the academic year, an annual snapshot of the database is taken at the end of each academic year, the results of which are summarized in these dashboards. The trends shown here are based on the combination of these snapshots over time. This particularly affects the counts of withdrawn and newly accredited programs. The timing of the snapshot also affects the ACGME’s ability to report on the graduating cohort, as this information is not fully available until after Annual Update reporting is complete. It is for this reason that the graduates and residents/fellows leaving their programs are reported for the previous academic year.
The publicly available data reflect ACGME Policies and Procedures 7.41, “Published Information Released through ACGME.” The ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures is available on the ACGME website.
