Hierarchy slicers allow users to filter data using multiple related fields within a single slicer.
For example, in the Specialty hierarchy slicer, you can start by selecting a specialty, then narrow it down further by choosing a subspecialty— all within the same slicer. This provides a more dynamic and organized way to explore data by expanding and collapsing various levels of the hierarchy.
1. Click on the arrow or a "triangle" next to the fields to expand the items.
2. Select the "checkbox filter" from the next level tree view. This will instantly change the visual.
The image below shows specialty dermatology, which includes both specialty and its subspecialties.
4. Click the "Subspeciality" button on the top left to just see the subspeciality.
Tip: Another way to filter is by typing a specialty in the "search box" for quick results.
Tip: Holding down the control key allows users to select multiple options; this allows users to choose several subspecialties of interest.
